THE SITUATIONIST INTERNATIONAL
|

For the past few years we have been searching for something new, something that would simply blow our minds,
granted there have been several great albums released in the past but often do I believe you get to truly hear what the
group wants you to. Some would say signing a record deal is like selling your soul to the devil, you must be prepared to
sign over all control even the aspects that got you signed in the first place, that is unless of course you decided to
create your own label and have full creative control over the music you present to the people. That is exactly what TSI
has done and it shows bringing a rawer in your face experience that truly pays off in their debut album “Hanging By A
Thread”
TSI may have a pretty basic core unit with front man Geoff Lenox and lead guitarist Dirty Migz being the only official
members however there is nothing basic about this group. Voicing their opinions of the wronged world around them they
take you on a 10 track rebellion filled with an electrifying punk rock mix with just the right amount of metal to bring you to
your feet. To achieve this sound the group has introduced artist in the NY area in a collaboration of some of the best
local warriors willing to step up to the cause. This is actually quite unique because it offers fans different strength’s on
different track’s. This also give’s the group complete freedom to bring in the best person for what they are trying to
achieve at that moment of time assuring their point comes across clear and meaningful.
Right from the start of this album you are energized on lead track “Jonestown” beginning with what sounds like
various news cast from around the nation and seamlessly streams into a rebellious anthem that is sure to throw you in a
frenzy and sing along. As the album progresses I hear influence of everything from the Sex Pistols to Mettalica which
create’s the ultimate experience. If I had to sum up this review in one sentence the I would have to say “Powerful
instrumentals’ mixed with the word of the people” Whether you agree or not you can not deny that this entire album tells
us to stand up and fight the wronged world around us, it is the only way it can change!!! You need this album in your
collection. Purchase this album today at www.tsiband.com/store.html

Founded in New York City in 2004 by front man and lyricist, Geoff Lenox, TSI consists of Lenox and lead guitarist,
Dirty Migz, and is rounded out by a revolving lineup of the local NYC rock n' roll elite. The name TSI stands for The
Situationist International¬ - a title mockingly stolen from the intellectualized rebellious organization of the same name.
The band now goes primarily by the acronym TSI due to a difficulty faced in remembering, spelling, and pronouncing
their full name on the part of many fans and even some band members.
Since their inception, TSI has been winning over audiences with their honest and brutal performances. Bursting
with punk energy and rage, while maintaining their deep appreciation for classic rock n' roll, metal, and well crafted pop
songwriting, TSI has developed a sound and a message capable of capturing an extremely diverse audience.
Attracted to the rebellious and provocative side of art and music since they were children, the band’s mantra is
simple: make music that captures the honest and uncompromising spirit of rock, like their favorite bands. Lenox states,
"the bands we grew up listening to and the scenes we grew up hearing about were made up of people who had
something new and exciting to say, not people following a stale formula hoping to get rich and famous."
The bands that influenced TSI wrote their own songs and did things their way because they were artists and not the
manufactured products of businessmen. The danger that TSI members found attractive was in the music, its message,
and the effect on the audience - not compensated for by tattoos and cliché rock n' roll uniforms. TSI, for better or for
worse, have done things their way from the beginning and to this day are, somehow, still standing - stronger than ever.
In 2007, after realizing that they needed to adapt or die, TSI formed their own record label, Task Force Records.
With the current state of the music industry, TSI did not want to allow any label to step in a "break" the band, nor be put
in a position to be taken advantage of by traditional label practices, according to Lenox. With co-founder/friend Vernon
Bice and help from friends/producers Joe Hogan and Alex Rude, the Task Force family set out to make the band's ideal
debut album. The goal was to create a record that would stand out above the cookie-cutter trend and produce
something that was real, urgent, and genuinely exciting.
The result (nearly two years later) is Hanging by a Thread, a blistering, 10 song, 45 minute declaration of war ...
that can be danced to. Making the most of their limited financial resources, but seemingly limitless pool of talented
individuals who believe in them, TSI and their team of conspirators have done for a fraction of the cost what others seem
unable to do with millions: ROCK!
