THE ENERGY ROCK'S THE DEN!! NEXT STOP YOUR TOWN
The lights are dim and the band takes the stage. This is not a big arena or even a medium
sized music hall; this is a small bar in the middle of Mohegan Sun casino. As the gathering
crowd watches the performance from up close they will realize in years to come that they
were fortunate enough to see The Energy in an intimate setting before they take over the
big stages.  The venue although small has a southwestern feel to it, very nicely decorated
with statues of wolfs and scenes of mountains surrounding the patrons.  The stage is
presented to look like these mountains and the lighting is some of the best I have seen at
any venue in a long time unless of course you are trying to take photos. You see I have
found that the best audience lighting is usually the worse for photographers but we are not
the reason the band is there, they are there for you the fans. That’s where I was in luck
because I was not only a photographer this evening but a fan as well. For those of you that
may not be from the NYC or Northeastern United States area you may be unfamiliar with this
group of guys. Based out of Brooklyn, NY  these rockers have no problem selling out club’s
in the city and are quickly emerging as one of the most Energizing show’s in the
Northeastern United States market and with slot’s opening for the likes of 3 Doors Down and other top groups it is only a
matter of time before they Energize the nation.  It did
not take me very long to become quite stimulated with what I was
seeing and listening to a few feet in front of me. Lead vocalist Adam Wolfsdorf gives an instant impression when he
steps onto the stage; one that led me to believe that he was there for one reason and that was to conquer the stage,
bring you to your feet and make you feel as though you are a part of the show.  I realized about half way through the first
song that I was in for long and great night as word’s can do no justice to the stage performance of this group of guys. At
first glance I see bassist James Clifford on one side of the stage and in what seems a blink of an eye he is on the other
side fully extended bass in the air just killing it! Guitarist Ian Vandermeulen although confined to his own side of the
stage utilizes every bit of it as he goes up to jam with drummer Zachary Thomas who is putting every bit that he has into
his craft of setting the pace with extraordinary talent. This was the tempo that was presented throughout all 3 of the
groups 40 minute sets. Yes that is correct The Energy performed for well over 2 hours playing many tracks off their
latest album “Realize Your Sin” including the group’s current radio Single “Lights” and one of my favorites, witnessing the
crowd’s reaction one of theirs as well “Dancing In The Groove” which is a really catchy feel good rock song with definite
pop influence that brought the crowd to their feet to do a little dancing of their own.
The group also featured track off their two previous albums “Awake” and “Climbing
Palace Walls” respectably with the track “Triple Ex” off of “Climbing Palace Walls”
gaining great crowd support. “Man that is a great song I definitely have to buy that
album” one audience member said to me. (After the final set I actually watched this
person by all three albums.)  Even as the night wore on the performance was
sensational and the vocals never sounded tired which is quite impressive if you
think about it; try singing for ½ hour in the mirror and tell me how your throat feels
like athletes I believe that musicians need some sort of conditioning and on this
night you could tell they were ready for the game! I was amazingly impressed with
the groups cover songs that they threw at us. Gnarls Barkley might get upset with
us but The Energy performed “Crazy” as if they were the ones who wrote it another
song that brought the crowd to their feet to do a little dancing. What really
cemented that this group is filled with talent for me was at this one moment in the
night when the group decided to perform a true classic “Come Together” by the
one and only Beatles. The vocals, bass lines and drum hit’s were all on the money
John Lennon himself would have been proud but it was Ian Vandermeulen who really showed he is a definite player
when it comes to up and coming guitarist, nailing his solo with tremendous accuracy, that left me with my mouth a little
ajar saying damn did he just do that, yes he did. The hardest part of the night was saying goodbye, you would think after
hours of music one would be satisfied but I wanted more and folks around me felt the same. The Energy is in the house
and you were just rocked!!!!
