What happens when a post is made on various
social networks stating that you’ll be talking with
some fans favorite band? While they have a chance
to have their very own questions answered by a
member of this said band? People start flipping out
and the inbox is full, that’s what. That’s exactly what
we ran into when we mentioned we’d be talking with
Static X. The questions started rolling in and the
excitement of seeing the boys on their current tour
reached levels of pure adrenaline. In just a few
weeks, we’ll be seeing Static X play at one of the
Nations best music festivals around, Rock on the
Range in Ohio. Here’s just a little taste of the
pandemonium that went down during the interview.
M4M: WHAT HAS BEEN THE REACTION FROM THE FANS ON THE NEW ALBUM?

TONY
: It’s been great! We’ve been playing 3 of the songs off the new record on this tour and they’ve all seem
to be going over really well! So we’re really happy about the acceptance of it with everyone.

M4M: WITH THIS NEW ALBUM, DO YOU HAPPEN TO HAVE A “FAVORITE” SONG THAT YOU LIKE TO
PLAY?

TONY
: I really like playing, Z28. It’s a really cool “rock star” driving song, you know? (laughs) And it’s about
Cameros, so you can’t go wrong with that (both laugh).

M4M: I FEEL THE NEED TO GO SNATCH A CAMERO NOW, THANKS. (both laugh).

M4M: YOU’VE BEEN ON A NEW TOUR THAT STARTED IN LATER MARCH. HOW’S IT GOING?

TONY
: Yea, it’s been going for a little over two weeks now, so far so good. But we haven’t had Saliva on the
tour yet because their singer had surgery and is going to be out for awhile. So we’ve carrying on playing with
Burn Halo, and things are going good.

M4M: SPEAKING OF TOURING AND PLAYING AWESOME SHOWS, ARE YOU GUYS LOOKING
FORWARD TO PLAYING ROCK ON THE RANGE THIS YEAR?

TONY
: Oh yea! I hear it’s going to be a really good show! There are a lot of great bands on the bill, so it sounds
like it’ll be a good time. The cool thing with shows like that, is the closest thing to it is a European type of
festival. It’s always great to see a bunch of different bands playing together outdoors.

M4M: IT’S MOST DEFINITELY AN AWESOME WEEKEND! THERE’S ALWAYS A GREAT LINEUP AND
TONS OF PEOPLE SHOW UP!

M4M: AFTER THIS TOUR GETS DONE, DOES STATIC X PLAN ON TAKING SOME TIME OF OR DO
SOME MORE TOURING?

TONY
: Nah, we just wind up touring more up until the end of the year. We’re still in the process of setting things
up and getting bills done for that tour as well.

M4M: ONE OF THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS FANS SENT IN TO US, WAS IF NICK SHRED HIS
DREADS OR IF THERE IS A NEW DRUMMER IN THE NEWEST VIDEO FOR “STRINGWRAY?”

TONY
: No, that is not Nick, that is Will Hunt. Nick had some things he had to take care of back home so we all
decided to let Nick sit this one out.

M4M: IN THE PAST, THE BAND WAS KNOWN TO DO A LOT OF OFF ROADING IN THE DESERTS, EVEN
FEATURING IT IN SOME OF YOUR PAST VIDEOS. DO YOU GUYS STILL ENJOY DOING THAT?

TONY
: Yea, we still do! Wayne’s still got his ’67 Bronco and I’ve still got my Ford Ranger. It’s actually been in
the shop for the past year and a half getting worked on, so I haven’t really done anything like that in a long time.
I did just get it back a few months ago but I haven’t gotten the chance to do anything with it. But when I get
home, you’ll know exactly where I’ll be (laughs).

M4M: AT LEAST YOU HAVE IT BACK NOW! DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVORITE SPOTS THAT YOU LIKE TO
GO TO?

TONY
: We do, La Quinta Valley by Palm Springs California, that general area. There’s a bunch of trails all over
down there.

M4M: A WHILE BACK, THE BAND DID A SMALL COMIC SERIES BUT ONLY RELEASED ONE OF THEM.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THEM? THERE SEEMS TO BE A LOT OF PEOPLE WANTING THE OTHER
4 (both laugh).

TONY: We honestly haven’t even talked about that. It was something our former guitar player, Tripp, was really
into and got started. When he left the band, it kind of went with him (both laugh). The comic book company that
we were working with to print the comics, went out of business so that also led to that ultimately not happening.

M4M: IN THE NEWEST ALBUM, “CULT OF STATIC,” A LOT OF THE SONGS HAS CAR THEMED TITLES.

TONY
: Yea, we’re a bunch of gear heads so it fits. Wayne just bought a new car, I think it’s a ’69 Camero. He
likes to take that out and do donuts in the parking lot (both laugh).

M4M: WELL IF HE’S GETTING NEW CARS AND PLAYING WITH THEM IN THE PARKING LOTS, WHAT
ABOUT YOU? WHAT ARE SOME OF THE CARS YOU DO YOUR DONUTS IN? (both laugh).

TONY
: Right now I have my Ford Ranger, an old Ford Viking.

M4M: NOW I’M JEALOUS! (both laugh)

TONY
: Yea, it’s got 22 inch tires on it and a dual paint job as well. I have a couple of bikes that I ride too. I like
to take long rides and take them down the highways.

M4M: THE NAME OF YOUR FIRST ALBUM “WISCONSIN DEATH TRIP,” WHAT WAS THE SIGNIFICANCE
OF THE WORD WISCONSIN?

TONY
: It was actually the title of a book that we really liked. It was a collection of old newspaper clippings made
in the 40’s or something. It was just the local stuff that went on in this town.

M4M: IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WANTED TO SAY TO THE FANS?

TONY
: Yea! Just thanks for the years of support and the ten years plus run! We’ll be coming to your area and
hope to meet each and every one of you in person!

M4M: GOOD LUCK ON THE TOUR AND WE’LL SEE YOU SOON!

TONY
: Thanks!
