M4M: IN CANADA, WHAT ARE THE INFLUENCES OF ROCK LIKE THERE COMPARED TO THE US?
LUKE (Lead singer): Ya know, a lot of the same type of stuff, a lot of the same type of scene. The only difference is in
Toronto. Toronto is a very big city part with musicians. It seems to be very similar here with a lot more of a rock scene
than anything with different styles of rock as well. Montreal is a bit different; it has a very young scene there, a real
college town whereas Toronto has a much more “corporate” scene right? So you’ve got a bit more of a variety of music
going on there but it’s pretty similar. And it’s not really about Canada vs the US, its more about East Coast vs West
Coast ya know?
M4M: EXACTLY. GIVE US A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON THE BAND.
LUKE: Well, I started out as a drummer and played for a bunch of bands and couldn’t find the kind of music that I wanted
to play. So I realized I had to create it myself (both laugh). I started to play guitar, bass and writing lyrics and working my
ass off on that kind of stuff. I eventually recorded a bunch of rough demos and called up a buddy of mine, Griffin. I’ve
known him since high school and he’s just a killer lead guitarist. I wanted him to play some solos so he came in and we
started talking about putting a band together. We auditioned a bunch of people and found Johnny and Chris, a bass
player and drummer. We had a manager at that point and we were having a real tough time finding the right rhythm
guitarist. So he put out the word to all the people in the industry that he knew all over the world and like in the first day
we had over 200 email applications from all over the world being sent in. We checked out a whole bunch of videos of a
bunch of different guys playing. There was this one dude who was born in New Zealand but was living in Australia and he
was really kick ass. So I called him up in Australia and was like “Dude, if you wanna come in and audition”. So he did it
and got the position.
M4M: THE BAND ALREADY HAS A LARGE FAN BASE THAT’S GROWING EVERYDAY, WHAT ARE SOME OF THE
THINGS YOU’VE EXPERIENCED WITH FANS WHILE ON TOUR RIGHT NOW?
LUKE: Well, it’s like the “bread and butter” of real rock and roll bands you know? There’s lots that’s changed in the
industry and such with technology and such in the past few years. But the real “bread and butter” is still touring and
always will be right? We’ve been doing some really good touring with some really good bands. That’s still the key to
building up a good audience.
M4M: THE BAND JUST SHOT SOME NEW MUSIC VIDEOS FOR “BAD TOUCH,” “SCHOOLS OUT,” AND “NIGHT OF THE
GHOULS” FOR THE NEW SELF DEBUTED ALBUM. WHEN WILL THEIR RELEASE DATES BE?
LUKE: Yea! The first one “Eighteen” is being released in Canada and it’s being released in the States within like a week.
The rest are in line for release as well. Things have been great! That was cool (laughs) we shot a video in this fucking
abandoned cop shop in Toronto. We just totally wasted before the shoot and it turned out really good (both laugh).
M4M: ALRIGHT, HOW THE HELL DID YOU GET A COP SHOP?! (laughs)
LUKE: Yea dude! It was this abandoned building and like 20 years ago was a cop shop and had been abandoned and
sitting there with boarded up in this part of town that was down by the water. So we just took off the boards and went in
there and shot the video! It was crazy, we partied our asses off while doing the shoot.
M4M: ALONG WITH PARTYING YOUR ASSES OFF, THE BAND ALSO JUST RELEASED A SELF DEBUTED ALBUM IN
JUNE, WHAT WERE SOME OF THE PROCESSES THAT YOU WENT THROUGH TO CREATE THIS ALBUM?
LUKE: Like when we were recording, we were really focused and we worked really hard to pull this together, doing it
right. At the same time, we were constantly rehearsing as well for when we play live and arranging everything else that
goes along with that. Just trying to get things ready for touring, getting the word out and getting things built up for the
release of the album. Trying to get any shows that were out there, at anywhere and all that stuff.
M4M: WITH TOURING, THE BAND HAS ALREADY PLAYED SOME SICK FESTIVALS THIS YEAR IN THE US ALONG
WITH CANADA, WHAT WERE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THOSE FESTIVALS AND ANYWHERE REALLY?
LUKE: Playing is always the highlight moment ya know? Those festivals are huge and it’s a party! A big party (both
laugh). We met a lot of really cool people and we had a pretty wild time. It was good. Our band loves to party! Living in
the moment is the key and certainly playing live is wicked. That’s one of the best things (laughs). It makes you propel
yourself into the moment. That is the best thing ever. But I’ve had a lot of experiences that have brought me in that state
of mind. I drifted around for quite awhile right out of high school for over a year, over the States and spent a lot of time in
California. Just king of aimlessly wandering around and seeing whatever everyday brought me, was an adventure for
me. That definitely gave me a lot of material, a lot of ideas living like that with nothing, just wandering around. I got into a
lot of crazy things (both laugh), just that type of stuff just going out for an adventures and just seeing everything.
M4M: WITH ADVENTURES, THERE’S ALWAYS THE SINGLE QUESTION OF: ONE WISH, WHAT WOULD YOU ASK
FOR? (both laugh)
LUKE: One wish? (laughs) Immortal partying.
M4M: WITH THAT, WHAT IS SOMETHING THE BAND IS HOPING TO DO/ACCOMPLISH WITHIN THE NEXT YEAR?
LUKE: Keep touring, to get on as many killer tours as possible. We’re doing a cross-tour across Canada with Airborne
starting mid August through November/December. We’re also opening up for them on the UK tour as well. They’re
fanatics for Rock over there. They’ve got the best Rock scene out of everywhere so we’ll definitely be seeing the
hardcore people. The best party will be there (laughs).
M4M: WE CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU ON TOUR WHEN YOU COME OUR WAY, THANKS FOR CHATTING WITH US AND
WE’LL SEE YOU ON THE ROAD!
LUKE: Yea thanks! We’ll see you then!

"Right from the start I knew exactly what I wanted when I wrote the
music and lyrics for this album. I wanted to make a killer rock album
to party your ass off to...an album to let loose, leave all the bullshit
behind and run wild to. When I hit high school I went totally out of
control. It was just a rampage of crazy partying. At the time, I was
incredibly pissed off and fucked up because I was dealing with a lot
of really harsh shit...but I decided: "fuck it all...I'm gonna have some
fucking fun"... and I managed to have a hell of a lot of fun. I made
some really great friends and had some really wild times and this is
what the album is all about."
