ALBUM REVIEW
Simply put this is one of the best rock albums to come out this year. The long awaited release of "Life In Between"
was well worth it as Royal Bliss delivers in their major label debut. The January, 13th, 2009 debut features 12 well
written almost documentary style lyrics of the groups and front man Neal Middleton's troubling and trying past. "They
are stories of my life basically. I don’t usually right the lyrics until i get in the studio and we are actually recording the
song, but i always have the main topic of the song that just kinda comes through performing it, its kinda whats on my
mind that i need to get off my chest, or just a period of my life that i just need to talk about in a different way then to just
sit down and talk with someone about it. I am not very good at writing stories about other people so its easier to write
about what i know, instead of making up stories." proclaims Middleton. The unique thing about this album is that not
only is it written extremely well, we hear great melody and high energy riffs throughout which frankly quite often is very
rare to see.
The Album starts out with what is also their first single called "Save Me" a lyrical journey into the troubling past of
lead singer Neal Middleton's battles with alcohol, drug's, and basically becoming a man. This song is a great
representation as to what to expect from the rest of the album. One of my personal favorites on this album is entitled "
Devils and Angels" which was also featured on the groups 2006 release of "After The Chaos 2" a song about choices
and which way to decide on. A song that most of us at one point in our life's can really relate to. The acoustics in this
song are simply outstanding and you will find this to surely be a favorite.
Now if you have been one of those fans for the entire 10 years of the groups existence you will surely see a
evolution from past material but this is and evolving process that I feel really makes this group stand out. Middleton
gave us an answer when we asked about this evolving change from the group. "Our topics changed from, “ let’s drink
and get stoned and date a bunch of girls” to “wow i need to stop drinking so much and stop doing drugs and respect
women”. Kind of as you get older its just a little bit whiter i guess you could say, and with all the shitty things that have
happened to us, it just tended to get more serious.  There were conversations, like all are cds are so different, like
there would be a reggae song and then a heavy metal song and then a rock ballad. We said maybe we should focus
and just try to do a record where all the songs sound like they are from the same band. We were like let’s try to just
focus on who we are as a band and what we truly want to sound like. I think we found our sound with this album." He
states.
Bottom line to this Album is you need it in your collection, in your disc player in the car, and loaded onto your ipod.
You will definitely be on the phone asking your local station to play this group over and over again.
