It all started in 1997 in North Andover Massachusetts where the birth of a group called Revelation Theory began.
In 2001 members Rich Luzzi (vocals), Julien Jorgensen (guitar), Matt McClosky (bass, backing vocals), and Dave
Angolia (percussion) moved to New York city to make a go at a music career. It did not take the group long to get off
their feet as the recorded a demo and started the touring process. The group Sevendust took a liking to Revelation
Theory and asked them to join them on the road and After being slotted for the Girls Gone Wild tour in 2005 they were
signed to EMI and later released their true debut album “Truth is Currency.” This album featured their first single with
“Slowburn” making it to # 27 on the U.S mainstream rock chart, the single could have gone even higher if they were
given consistent rotation from radio plays and played more than it was. The album also features some fan favorites like
“Loathe“, “Selfish and Cold” and “World to Burn”. The heavy touring continued in 2006 going on the road with Saliva,
and Evanescence even completing a European tour. In 2007 the band had a extremely busy schedule as they toured
with Hinder, Papa Roach, and Buckcherry. Trying a new format out the group added Ronny Paige of the group Forever
Oeuvre as a touring member for that tour. Ronny also went on to fill in at bass for the group Fuel while they toured.
2008 was the year of change for Revelation Theory as they signed with a major label called Interscope which is part of
the Universal Music Group as well as shortened their name a bit to simply Rev Theory. That year they decided to add a
permanent member to the group Rikki Lixx on lead guitar. Lixx would bring high energy and a great personality to this
group and continues to amaze fan’s on stage making this a great addition to a already highly talented roster.
In 2008 Rev Theory released their major label debut album “Light It Up”. The album features 10 great rock track’s
and takes the group in a bit of a different direction than their prior release. “Part of being a musician is challenging you’
re self and growing. As an individual and a person you should want to do that too. So for all the people that said why
didn't You write another “Truth Is Currency” it is like well we already wrote that album and wanted to challenge our selfs
and I think we did a great job’ explains Luzzi. A great job they did indeed as the WWE started to use both single’s “Light
it Up” and “Hell Yeah” during several pay per view event’s. That same year Rev Theory became the first group ever to
premier a video single on XBOX Live as they released the video “Hell Yeah” . The song “Hell Yeah” has made it to # 18
on the charts while their first single off the album title track “Light it Up” comes in at # 25 once again mainly due to limited
spin’s on radio. The groups next single off the Album “Far From Over” has gained more airplay and the numbers show
bringing that in at #15 on the charts. All three are heavier tracks with deep riffs and anthem like lyrics. The group is set
to release their fourth single off the album “Broken Bones” which features a softer and slower side of Rev Theory. The
song is written for a fallen band member and friend and is dedicated to anyone who may have lost a loved one in the
past. Typically a groups third or fourth single is a softer song so this will fit right into form and should be able to cross
formats nicely. We would predict a top 10 charter here. This is a track to watch it could really sky-rocket this group and
Make them a lot more noticeable in the near future. As far as the rest of the tracks are concerned we find that their are
at least 8 of the 10 tracks that could have been single’s and done extremely well on the charts. One of my favorites is
Falling Down which in my head I picture this as the opening song on a huge arena tour with pyro. It is the ultimate
entrance song for a band . The music starts as the arena is dark the riffs the rythem bring fan’s to their feet. Suddenly
the pyro goes off and there they are Rev Theory lighting it up, anyway that is just my thought. “Wanted Man” is another
killer track on this album that definitely could have been single material, “You‘re The One” would be a song that also has
potential for format crossing. In my opinion this would have been my single release order: For the rock stations I would
have released “Light It Up” first being the title track and a killer song, “Far From Over” second which has a great chorus
and a song that is very catchy, the third single would have been “Wanted Man” because I feel like this track could really
define this group and is simply a kick ass song to listen to. I really agree with the band on releasing Broken Bones as
their fourth single and also possibly their first cross format hit. The track “Hell Yeah” was a great single but I feel it was
getting great exposure already with the WWE, XBOX, and several other outlets that the song was self promoting and
could have had the slot filled on the single’s list with “Wanted Man”. It has got to be hard to decide which tracks to
release as singles when the entire album is a single in it’s self.
The year 2009 has been a big year for Rev Theory as they toured with Puddle Of Mudd, made a stop at the highly
recognized Rock On The Range festival, as well as landing the headlining spot for the Monster energy stage at Crue
Fest 2 this summer. Even with all the excitement Rev Theory still had time to record an intimate acoustic album that
feature’s 5 great tracks including one of the best versions of Hunger Strike originally recorder by Temple Of The Dog.
This is simply one of the best acoustic stripped down performances that I have ever heard . The album called Acoustic
Live from the Gibson Lounge is a limited availability disc and can only be purchased on tour or through i-tunes,
originally I believe the album was going to be called “Broken Bones” named after the group’s track that is dedicated to a
fallen band member and friend as well as anyone listening that may have lost a loved one. There is a possibility that this
album will be available in retail stores in the future and could be part of a box set as the group is in the process of
gathering footage for a possible live dvd. Currently with the Crue Fest 2 tour wrapping up Rev Theory will be doing a
Canadian tour with Seether with some shows in the U.S. A full touring schedule can be found at the bands website www.
