M4M: Now earlier this year you released STORYLINES What was the process like to record that album?

JOSH
: We've been through recording processes in which we needed to do a number of songs in a day or a week, etc. Time and money
issues. 'STORYLINES' actually took shape over the period of a year and a half (i think?lol). This was due to the fact that we wanted to put
our best efforts into our first full length album, as well as being flexible with our producer, kirk Kelsey. At different times, we laid down tracks
in bathrooms, basements, and garages between Nashville and Atlanta. Though impatient at times, i think we're all happy with how things
turned out. The experiences we've had along the way were amazing.

M4M: The title seems to be quite fitting, this album is actually written like a book right?

JOSH
: though i wouldn't say we put 'STORYLINES' together as a 'concept album', i think we chose the material that told the most honest
and effective stories about the last few years of our lives. 'diaries' seemed to set the tone well because, while many of the stories we have
to tell are about past frustration and personal struggles, it introduces things in a way that reveals we're re-telling them after we have already
healed and become stronger.

M4M: What were some of the instances that influenced STORYLINES?

JOSH: half of the material on the album is based on internal struggles within the band, in all honesty. Obviously there are tracks that are
geared towards romantic relationships, and even songs written for and about members of our own families. It's hard to go into specific
situations, since there are quite a few. But, this is definitely the type of Cd I'd encourage someone to follow lyrics to, pick the situations out,
and decide how they relate to them. We believe there's something for everyone in there.

M4M: Your first single off the album called Honestly is quite unique. Can you take us into the deeper meanings of the song. Was this written
for a particular life situation?

JOSH
: although everyone in NS brings ideas to the table, the core of the music was introduced by Britain. Britain and i got together and
spoke about the melodies, hung out, then were discussing personal matters. At one point, we both kind of opened up about long distance
relationships, the pain of having to know when to let go, and trying to learn something from it rather than dwelling on things. Its a really hard
thing to do. - having shared a story and emotions similar to his, it was rather easy for me to piece together something that i thought
everyone could understand. Before we knew it, we were playing out and recording 'honestly'.

M4M: You are now on the road doing a small venue tour however you are no stranger to the big stage. Do you have a preference of the
intimate smaller setting or the large mass venues?

JOSH
: i will admit that i tend to enjoy the 'storytellers' type of settings, giving them the meanings to the songs we play, especially acoustic
shows. Even in small clubs, its easier to do. At the same time, we take pride in having a really energetic live show. We like to keep the
audience involved and giving people a reason to move. - although, i would say that NS has had the tendency of playing best when we're
under some pressure regardless of the size of the show.

M4M: When you share stages with a big name artist does Negative Space get any particular experiences that will help you in the future?

JOSH
: absolutely! Whether it revolves around production, presentation, technical stuff, we're always taking notes when we get to play with
big name artists. Everyone is where they are for a reason most of the time. - heck, when we play with anyone, we're pretty critical of
ourselves. If you're not open to accepting where you are as an artist or open to growing, what's the point, right?

M4M: This holiday season you have joined many other artist to do something special. Can you tell us about this album that you are on for
the holidays?

JOSH
: well...alternative addiction has been a great place for music on the Internet, and we're happy to be in their good graces. Just recently,
our song "I'll be home" had been placed on their '08 holiday compilation along with other major artists such as shinedown, lifehouse, and
better than ezra. On top of being a great digital stocking stuffer, the proceeds go to a major children's charity. So, everyone wins. :)

M4M: Is this something that you would like to be a part of in the future?

JOSH
: (you mean charitable causes?) - another thing the band has taken pride in has been our availability for causes larger than
ourselves.I personally have been involved in a number of charities, particularly geared towards children. So there's no doubt in my mind
that anything like this is something all of us would like to be a part of again.

M4M: Talking about the future what does it hold for you as a group? Do you have set goals for the next year or two? Where would you like to
see progress lead?

JOSH
: In this day and age, you can never predict what the future may hold for anyone in the music industry. And although we already feel
blessed to be doing what we're doing, obviously we're looking to make some steady progress. In a year from now, we'd like to see
ourselves generating more noise on a national level, and then proceed overseas when we can. Until then, we'll continue be thankful for
what we have, one day at a time.

M4M: What would be something you would like current and future fans to know about you that they do not know already?

JOSH: that we love them more than all of the other bands do. Lol.

M4M: We appreciate your time and look forward to great things in the future!

JOSH
: thanks a lot! Stay in touch!
Negative Space is a group with the potential to quickly take the  music
world by storm. With the right mix of melody and songwriting skills that
would make top groups envious you would never know that the
groups album "STORYLINES" was an independent release. Already
sharing the stage with the likes of 3 Doors Down, Seether, Fuel, and
many others this group has proved they are ready for the spotlight to
be shined down upon them. Fans have the chance to catch the group
out on the road playing small venues for an up close and intimate
atmosphere and it could be one of the few times to catch them before
they land on the big stage for good.
