Every week, every month there’s a new record that a band is
putting out. There’s always the same “buy our record” spiel. But
what if the preview of the record instantly grabs your attention
and makes you say “Hold up!” There’s always an opening band
or two that plays that most people tend to forget or just don’t
show up to see until the final band gets ready to go on. But
what if one of those opening bands grabs your attentions and
again makes you say “Hold up!” There’s always something to
be said for the band that’s able to do that to you more than
once in a small set of time. Not only does the music grab your
attention but the band as a whole does as well. Lynam is the
exact band that makes you say “Hold up!” There’s definitely no
doubt about that.
M4M: BEING IN A BAND BASED ON HAVING FUN WITH MUSIC AND PUTTING ON ONE HELL OVA’ SHOW, WHAT ARE
SOME OF THE THINGS CROWD MEMBERS COME AND TELL YOU AFTER A SET?

JACOB
(lead singer):  Man, you guys suck! (both laugh!)  Nah, I’m just kidding. A lot of the times, we’re just playing in
front of a lot of fans. We grew up watching VH1 classics; we love all of the true rock bands. Whether that’s Kiss or Foo
Fighters, we just like those bands that put on those big stage shows. Or like Green Day. Green Day is one of those
bands that are a modern band that kind of started the punk category that put on a full blown out arena rock show. And a
lot of the things that we do on stage are kind of things that we’ve “stolen” so to speak. (both laugh) from a Kiss stage
show or a Motley Crue stage show or whatever. A lot of the younger people we play for their first concert think those we
invented those moves. (laughs) It’s pretty crazy cause they’ll come up to us after a show and say “we love that guitar
trick that you play,” and I don’t have the heart to tell them that this guy from this band actually created it! But for the most
part, most people come up to us after the shows cause we’re at the merch booth after every set and are excited to just
talk with us or get merch. I mean, if they’re generally walking up to the merch booth, they have something positive to say
anyways. So it’s a lot of fun to hear what people have to say after a show.

M4M: SEEING LYNAM PLAY LIVE AND SEEING THE ATTITUDE YOU HAVE WITH ONE ANOTHER IS SOMETHING OF A
SHOW ITSELF (both laugh). THAT BEING SAID, YOU GUYS HAVE TOURED WITH SOME OF THE SICKEST BANDS
THAT ARE WELL KNOWN FOR BEING THE “TROUBLE MAKERS” (HINDER, ETC) AND PLAYING PRANKS ON ONE
ANOTHER. WHAT IS/ARE SOME OF THE CRAZIEST THINGS YOU’VE SEEN OR BEEN APART OF WHILE TOURING
WITH THEM?

JACOB
: Man, the whole Hinder tour was one big, crazy fest! Basically, if you’ve ever watched the MTV show Jackass,
you can pretty much get an idea as to what happened during that whole Hinder tour (laughs). We pulled pranks on each
other, we’d do crazy shit! The guys from Hinder were absolutely nuts! So an example would be when we were in
Washington D.C. We were on stage playing, while we were playing, Hinder were up in the balconies, they were throwing
Jagger shot glasses at us! (both laugh) They were pelting us with those things! Then they had the run crew, while we’re
still playing, start taking our drums away, various set pieces away! It was pretty nuts. Oh wait! I’m gonna get my drummer
in on this as well!

DAVID: Hey, how’s it going?

M4M: WELL NOW THAT YOU’RE HERE, IT’S GOING PRETTY DAMN GOOD! (Everyone laughs)

M4M: GROWING UP LISTENING TO THE 70’S AND 80’S, THE ERA HAS INFLUENCED A GREAT NUMBER OF BANDS.
WHAT IS YOUR “TRICK” TO HAVING THAT BACKGROUND BEING APPARENT IN THE MUSIC BUT ALSO STANDING
ALONE AND MAKING IT YOUR OWN?

JACOB
: I think the way that we do that is our image. If you look at our photos, you can see a hint of “hey we like 80’s and
larger than life” but if you look at out pictures, we’re not wearing spandex (everyone laughs), we don’t have Aqua Net.

DAVID: Well maybe a little bit of Aqua Net (everyone laughs)…

JACOB: yea alright, a little…but as far as spandex goes and ripped shirts, we don’t dress like that. We feel that we look
like a dirty rock band from the South, which is what we are. As far as the music goes, we love songs from the 80’s like
“Cherry Pie”, our songs aren’t “Cherry Pie” you know? Our songs have the fun element of the 80’s in them and the rock
but musically we’re more like a mixture between Foo Fighters then let’s say one’s like Poison. You know what I mean? I
feel like we merge the current and the past together perfectly.  We’ve created a sound all our own.

M4M: WHEN I LISTENED TO SOME OF THE NEW SONGS OFF OF THE NEXT RECORD THAT’S COMING OUT SOON,
IT TOTALLY “HIT THE SPOT” AND BROUGHT ME BACK TO LISTENING TO THOSE GREAT 80’S BANDS.

JACOB
: I’ll tell you what, we’ve tested our music in front of 1000’s and 1000’s and 1000’s of people, and I don’t care what
type of genre of music you listen to, everyone just gets it. We just hope that people will hear it over the radio and feel the
same way and go buy a CD. It’s kind of hard to get our show over a CD or over a radio cause you kind of need the total
package. We think the sound will catch with everybody and you can’t deny catchy hooks if you hate songs (laughs).

M4M: LYNAM HAS A NEW RECORD COMING OUT NEXT MONTH “TRAGIC CITY SOUNDTRACK,” WHAT IS
SOMETHING YOU GUYS PLAN ON DOING TO CELEBRATE THE RELEASE?

JACOB
:  Going to Chuckie Cheese and having a hellva’ party! (Everyone laughs!) As far as celebrating the release, we’
re definitely going to Chuckie Cheese and driving the little putt-putt games, (again everyone laughs) and you know,
maybe watch a movie later or something. Our plans are actually to release it Aug 26th and we’re hoping to jump on tour.
The tour we had this summer with Cinderella, got cancelled because Tom hemorrhaged his left vocal chord. So it’s a
little too late in the ball game to jump on a tour. But after the release, I’m really hoping to jump onto another tour and just
go out and promote it. We’ve been planning to tour our asses off. The first single off the record that’s hit the radios is
“Save My Soul” will hopefully impact on the radio and we’ll be able to hit the big shows and come to a town near you!

M4M: SO YOU’RE COMING STRAIGHT MY WAY RIGHT?

JACOB
: Hell yea! We’re coming straight to your door! (Everyone laughs)

M4M: PERFECT! NOW THAT WE’VE ESTABLISHED YOU’RE STOPPING BY TO PICK ME UP (laughs), WHAT ARE
SOME OF THE THINGS THAT YOU GUYS DO TO “PREP” YOURSELVES BEFORE A SET?

JACOB
: We get our boxing gloves out and get down to our boxers and box (laughs). Yea most bands stretch and what
not, half the time we’re sitting & talking with our fans and each other just shooting the shit, and we don’t know what time
we’re suppose to go until we here the intro. Then we’re like “Oh shit! There’s our intro” then we’ll run and try to catch up
(laughs).

M4M: AT LEAST IF YOU’RE BOXING, THE CROWD WILL UNDERSTAND WHY YOU’RE RUNNING TO YOUR PLACES
ONCE THE INTRO STARTS! (Everyone laughs). ONE OF THE SONGS OFF THE NEW RECORD “IS THIS A HEART
BREAK OR A LOADED GUN” INSTANTLY REMINDS YOU OF BON JOVI’S “YOU GIVE LOVE A BAD NAME.” DO YOU
THINK THAT SAME EFFECT WILL COME ACROSS OTHER FANS WHO LISTEN TO THE SONG?

JACOB
: Hopefully! That’s the idea! (Laughs) Like we said, we try to have a perfect blend of old and new sound and if
people hear those influences in our music, its great! We’re not trying to run from them or hide them.

M4M: THE BAND AS A WHOLE HAS THIS EMPOWERING ENERGY BUT EACH MEMBER ALSO HAS THEIR “SOFTER
SIDE.” HOW DO YOU GUYS MINGLE THAT TOGETHER WHEN WRITING?

JACOB
: When we’re writing, I guess it’s just something that shows up, we don’t even think about it.

DAVID: It just runs out of him like diarrhea! (Everyone laughs!)

JACOB: For the most part it does I guess….(laughs) You hear bands that talk about how they haven’t released a record
for 2 years cause they only have like 2 songs because they’re having a severe case of writers block or whatever. Knock
on wood, we’ve never experienced that. Actually we’re the other way around; it’s like “Shit! It’s been 2 years since we’ve
released a record!” But we can have 5 or 6 albums written, how are we gonna narrow it down to which songs are gonna
be put on this.

DAVID: What’s funny about some of our songs is that, you’ll listen to it and think “Awh, that’s a sweet song” but if you
listen to the lyrics, has nothing to do with being sweet (laughs). It’s funny how chord progressions and melodies will lead
you to think its sweet without even listening to what it’s really about.

JACOB: Our bass player gives us a lot of inspiration for songs and without even realizing it (Everyone laughs).  He’ll sit
down and say “You know what, we should do a song like this or this or whatever.” Just listening to the guys’ conversation
on his cell phone, where we can’t hear the other line but get his clearly (everyone laughs). Just listening to stories that
he has when he just pours things out that are just absolutely crazy! I’ll hear something then I’ll write a song about it
(laughs).

M4M: THAT’S A CONVERSATION STARTER THAT WILL DEFINITELY CATCH SOME ATTENTION (Everyone laughs).
ALRIGHT, SO WITHIN A NEW TRADITION, WHAT IS ONE WISH THAT YOU’D “WISH” TO HAVE?

(As the line is quite and a burst of 2 laughter’s come forth)

DAVID: No more hookers on the corner! (EVERYONE LAUGHS!!)

JACOB: Ah hell, I’m gonna be selfish. I wish that 10 million people would buy “Tragic City Soundtrack.”

DAVID: You know what? I wish that 10 million people would buy “Tragic City Soundtrack.” Not at all impossible. Nope.
(laughs)
