EDGEFEST ROCKS ALTAMONT FAIRGROUNDS
Altamont NY.  Capital Region concert goers know what it is like to be hit with high priced tickets and mediocre shows but
one local radio station  set’s out to change that. Once a year WZMR The Edge out of the Albany NY area put together a
lineup to make any rock fan go crazy. On July 27th 2008 The Edge once again rocked the Altamont Fairground’s with a
lineup that included Everclear, P.O.D, Filter, Tantric, Days Of The New, and many more highly talented artist as well as
local battle of the band winners looking to gain a name for themselves. “I love seeing my favorite artist but also being
introduced to new bands because the music rocks” said one fan we ran into during the day. During the day we had our
personal favorites that seemed to give the fans quite a show, Tantric had what can only be described as an amazing set
not only rocking the crowd but lead singer Hugo Ferriera decided he would join them. About the midway point of their set
Ferriera came off stage to climb the security barrier as the crowd started going into a frenzy he makes the leap deep into
the crowd as he is carried high in the air by the fans.  “Tantric rocked. Did you see that guy crowd surfing, he kicked
ass” noted a fan when asked about the Tantric set. P.O.D gave another great performance when they had 6 or 7 young
kids join them on stage for their hit song “Youth Of A Nation”.

The day you could tell was created for the fans and listeners of The Edge. Tickets to this high powered rock show
were only $25.00 and concessions were very reasonably priced. It is rare these days you go to a show and get a $2.00
hot dog or a full meal including drink and fries for under $10.00. For those that wanted to get their drink on the bear
garden served them ice cold for a very reasonable price. Many fans had complained that Edgefest was scheduled the
same day as Big Day Out another radio stations version of Edgefest. After a little digging around we found that in reality
Edgefest was scheduled first, unlike Edgefest which is set up as a concert all of it’s own Big Day Out simply uses a tour
already coming to town and adds their tag to it. Tickets to that show were apox. 3 time the cost for inside seats, lawn
tickets far from the stage were around $20.00 before fees. A problem arose when Big Day Out ran a promotional $10.00
ticket sale and sold inside seats for that price instead of lawn tickets. Buyers ended up receiving an email telling them
their tickets were no good. Thankfully Edgefest jumped  in allowing ticket holders the opportunity to trade those useless
B.D.O tickets in for Edgefest tickets straight up. “I thought I was going to Big Day Out this year but got an email saying
my tickets were useless. How the hell can they sell you something then try to take them back? I traded mine for Edgefest
and I am glad I did!” said one angry purchaser.

After going to Edgefest and talking with the fans We feel the best ticket in town that day went to Edgefest. We must wait
to see what the Edge will bring us next year  but you can be assured that We will be attending and if you want the smart
choice you should attend as well.

Notes:  Chiodos was scheduled to appear but had to cancel. You can catch them at Northern Lights on sept. 26th
