PAGE MUSIC: THE ENERGY | REALIZE YOUR SIN
PAUL GREY
April 8, 1972 – May 24, 2010
Earlier today a good friend of mine sent me an email on a update of the passing of Slipknot
bassist Paul Gray. I was instantly filled with both sadness and anger as I began reading
what was written on one particular website whom I will not even mention but I am sure they
will know whom I speak of. As a music journalist I am here to present the fans with
information on their favorite artist however their comes a time when a line must be drawn
as to what you are willing to share. It appears that even in passing there are people that still
wish to bring a great man down, a husband, a father, a friend, a caregiver, a musician,
maybe he was your neighbor or you happened to walk past him on the street, possibly
became inspired by his creative genius or just became a fan; no matter what the case may
be he was a good man and should be remembered for that. We all have our demons,
maybe we should open your closet and see what is lingering inside. What if this was your
mother or your brother would you still post to the world like you did today? There is a time
when privacy should supersede the desire to gain irrelevant knowledge of a situation to step back and say “that is not my place”. let family
mourn and friends grieve as they handle their own private business. I as a music fan feel I should not be entitled to certain things, these are
things that have no bearing on the way I feel about Paul Grey and the musical moments he provided me with through the years. I want all of
you music fans out their to think back to a possible Slipknot show you attended and I mean really close your eyes and visualize the feeling
that came over you and that my friends is how he should be remembered, not the way that some trash online looking for web hits or
headlines wants you to react. Besides being a great musician he was also a loving husband and was expecting a child soon, please
remember that this goes beyond the the show you see on stage or the music you listen to in the car; this is real life! May you rest peacefully
Paul and my saddest and deepest condolences goes out to the family, friends, and band mates of this fallen musician -Joshua Koloski
Bringing a fresh new look and sound to the rock genre was this years Rock On
The Range opener Richy Nix. A talented  and diverse artist that is trying to
combine two separate passion into one meld of rocking rhymes. Growing up
listening to both Rap and Rock Nix looks to introduce fans to both at the same
time. What is interesting about Nix is he is able to bring genuine mind blowing
rhymes and mix it with powerful riffs And exploding drums that starts to make
you wonder if he didn’t create his own genre. We have seen similarities to this
in the past but it is Nix’s fresh creative take  outside of the box that may just
catch fire. If one was to try to compare his sound the first group to pop into
mind would be old school Linkin Park with more electricity. Currently Nix has a
very well written 5 song EP out titled “Note To Self” in fact that is one of the first
things that I noticed was the lyrics. We have to ask ourselves; what makes a
song good to the listener? Well in my opinion it is being able to launch yourself
into the song and adapting it to your own life experiences being the star of the
music video so to speak which is exactly what I am able to do with Richy Nix,
RICHY NIX
ROCKING THE RHYMES
Every song could some how, some way relate to a real life situation as if he has walked in my shoes or me his for that
matter. Nix could be just what this genre need’s in terms of a fresh new sound that you are able to still rock out  to but
not get bored with. Prior to his Rock On The Range performance he tore up the crowd at Bamboozle and will do so again
and again throughout this summers festival schedule.
